About the Role: The SWELL General Manager and Lead Bartender (GM) is responsible for ensuring the success and sustainability of the business from an operations standpoint, managing the staff and product of the business. This position will report regularly to Class A Members, the executive group of co-owners who is responsible for the programming, executive functions, and overall vision of swell.
Responsibilities:
Works as lead bar tender, with the majority of their full-time hours spent interacting with customers and being the face of the business.
Hires and trains staff. Accomplishes cafe and bar human resource objectives by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training additional staff as needed to maintain open hours.
Schedules staff. Makes sure that the cafe is adequately staffed at all times.
Keeps expenses within monthly budget (set by CLASS A Members).
Sourcing supplies, managing inventory, purchasing all food and beverage needs.
Manage vendor relations.
Maintains operations by preparing policies and standard operating procedures, aiming for consistent productivity and quality.
Maintains patron satisfaction by monitoring, evaluating, and auditing food and beverage service offerings.
Maintains a safe, secure, clean, and healthy facility by establishing, following, and enforcing sanitation standards and procedures.
Maintains current professional and technical knowledge in the food and beverage industry.
Accomplishes company goals within job purview and direction as outlined in regular meetings with Class A Members.
Write checks to vendors, talent, contractors, and artists - ensure timely (within 30 days for artists) and day-of payouts for talent.
When catering orders come in, manages staff scheduling, supplies, and facilitation of a successful order
Ensures that we are always ready to pass an inspection by the health, liquor and osha dept.
Make sure back patio is maintained and usable for guests
Candidate Qualifications:
Extensive Industry knowledge and experience is required
Proficient in the following dimensions of bar functions: drink preparation, purchasing, sanitation, security, company policies and procedures, personnel management, recordkeeping, and preparation of reports.
Must Meet age minimum requirements
Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Must be eligible to work in the United States.
Knowledge of Toast POS system preferred
Candidate Requirements:
Self-discipline, initiative, leadership ability and outgoing, proactive and positive manner.
Ability to motivate, support and manage employees to ensure that food and drink service meet appropriate standards and that quality customer service is at the forefront of every interaction with customers.
Must be able to handle the pressures of simultaneously coordinating a wide range of activities and recommend appropriate solutions to problems.
Must possess good communication skills for dealing with diverse staff, owners, and vendors
Ability to coordinate multiple tasks such as food, beverage and labor cost while maintaining required standards of operation in daily facility activities.
Hours may vary if manager must fill in for his/her employees or if emergencies arise (typical work week = 40 hours)
Ability to perform all functions in bar and kitchen
Position requires prolonged standing, bending, stooping, twisting, lifting products and supplies weighing 50 pounds, and repetitive hand and wrist motion.
Location: The majority of hours will be onsite at 2936 Colerain Ave. Some travel may be required to source ingredients and product.
Terms: This is a permanent, salaried, full-time position
Salary: $40,000–50,000 per year
