SWELL presents a free screening of the Emmy-nominated documentary Join or Die, followed by a Community Joining Fair where attendees can connect with local clubs, nonprofits and civic organizations. Inspired by Robert Putnam’s book Bowling Alone, Join or Die explores the decline of civic engagement and how belonging to clubs and organizations strengthens communities. Immediately after the screening, attendees can: Meet dozens of local club leaders, nonprofits and organizations Find opportunities to volunteer, join or participate Engage in conversations about strengthening community bonds.
