Are you someone who greets the moon like a long-lost friend? Do you know the exact number of creaks your ceiling makes between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m.? Then this is your tribe.
Join us for the launch of Glossary of Insomnia — a (somehow) creative romp through the world of sleeplessness that turns the “why am I awake again?” into something enchanting. Inspired by images, lived experience, and dreamy reflections (not actual definitions) this book is less about what insomnia is and more about what it feels like when your brain refuses to take a break.
✨ Expect good vibes, great conversations, and excellent company - most of us are chronically awake anyway.
✨ Drinks, snacks, and maybe that coffee you really shouldn’t have after 7 p.m. provided by the wonderfully eclectic space that is Swell Art Cafe.
✨ Come ready to laugh, ponder the writing of yawns, and celebrate a book that gets insomnia better than most alarm clocks.
Whether you sleep like a log or… don’t… this party is for you.
You will meet - Alexandra Dantzer an insomniac cosplaying anthropologist with a day job of a postdoc at Taft Research Center at UC (author). Aleksandar Kecman, an actor acting as a writer and vice versa (co-author) who is joining us from overseas. Micah Weber, an artist or a filmmaker based in Braddock, PA (publisher and designer of the book).
If you want to meet them in a more formal setting, they will have a roundtable at Elliston Poetry room at UC, Friday 20 at noon.
