Meet Tina Gutierrez, incredible photographer and community member and part of our Fotofocus Exhibition presented with Wave Pool, "Forgetting is Everywhere." Tina is passionately involved with social justice photography and believes that the camera is a tool for change. She strongly identifies with both her Hispanic and Appalachian heritage. She works to create images that show the beauty in the diversity of humanity and hopes to create healing opportunities for individuals and communities. She prefers to be called an “Arts Instigator” when working with communities by bringing attention to issues that are difficult or challenging through thought provoking projects that enable others to express their fears, hopes and dreams for the future.

For the show at SWELL, Tina is showing "Made Mountains." Made Mountains of discarded, metals, plastics, cords, and otherconsumed items awaiting recycling create monuments to our culture ofwaste and attempted reclamation.These images are part of an ongoing series made from 2012 to the present at what was formerly Garden Street metal on Spring Grove avenue in Cincinnati, Ohio. It is now River Metals Recycling and is one of the largest scrap recyclers in the country.

Her FAB cocktail of the month is a "Cubalachian," a sour apple martini with dulce de leche drizzle!
